Mikanah Gatherings launches in 2026 across three Manitoba cities

We are pleased to announce that our inaugural series of land-based community gatherings will begin in Winnipeg, Brandon, and Selkirk in 2026. Each gathering will align with a sacred season and be guided by community knowledge keepers and research partners. Planning is underway and we look forward to sharing more details soon.

A reflection from our New PATHS project on how access to green space and trail infrastructure shapes wellbeing, identity, and belonging for Indigenous young people in urban Manitoba. This piece draws on community conversations and early findings from our longitudinal work.

New PATHS preliminary findings on trail access and youth mental health

Early results from our longitudinal study suggest meaningful associations between regular access to urban trails and improvements in self-reported wellbeing among Indigenous youth participants.
